The role of Parents in learning - Part 1
Successful continuation of life for all the people is due to positive learning because every moment of life requires a particular behavior, without which progress is impossible. In this regard the role of parents in children’s learning especially in the prime of life is of vital importance. The children should revise their negative behavior in order to form good deeds they have not had before and change their objectionable actions.
This formation and change of behavior can be done through the process of learning by the help of parents, educators, and the society.
Parents, especially mothers who spend more time with the children should apply all their efforts to learn new methods and concepts in order to make changes for the better in their children’s deeds and lives.
To reach this goal, new ideas and new ways should be presented to the children to that by learning and applying them, they can make positive behavioral. Basically, learning is the constant changing of the behavior which comes out of experience and practice.
Learning makes the children to be able to adopt themselves to their environment. This adaptation is done by solving new problems and satisfying various needs.
Any change which has the following conditions is the result of learning:
1. It is almost constant and its effect appears in the succeeding actions of children.
2. This change is relative and not absolute. Children sometimes forget what they have learned.
3. The change which is a result of learning, appears when a child confronts a new situation and tries to gain more abilities.
4. There is no need for a change of behavior to appear right after learning
5. Change of behavior is seen in the form of experience or action.
6. This change should not be the result of natural graving which is hereditary or the result of the states of tiredness and illness.
For teaching and learning, presence of three factors is necessary:
1. Talent for learning
2. Chance and opportunity for learning
3. Correct guidance
Parents should know how their children learn and how they can practically guide their children’s learning. They should also have enough information to motivate and interest them for learning. Basically, learning is the basis of individual life.
Moreover, it is the basis of social life as well, because only by the help of learning talent, the people in a society understand the social ceremonies and try to follow them. Parents should know what differences their children have with each other.
"What is the range of their readiness for learning?’
"How could it be increased?"
These are the questions that should be taken into consideration because when the children are not ready to learn, parents and instructors gain no success in teaching them.
Most of the mothers have the problem of persuading the children to learn a particular matter. There is no doubt that useful teaching should be done based on the needs and interest of the children. The child who is excited to learn can lead a better way to learning.
The learning which is only applicable to one situation and not to any other is almost useless. Learning is worthy when it is effective in different life situations. So, parents should know which methods to apply to make children use what they have learned in a possible and easy way.
Considering actions of children in family, we find out that each child likes a different action, behaves in a particular way, prefers specific thing and avoids some of them. Therefore, we cannot find two children with totally the same behavior. So these questions arise: "Why do children show different behavior?"...
