If not taken care of properly, Plantar Fasciitis can become a huge hindrance that can prohibit you from any type of sport or recreation activity and if left long enough, even make it difficult to walk. While there is a much longer medical definition for this problem, we will stick to the simple, easy to understand facts. Basically, Plantar Fasciitis is serious irritation and swelling of the thick tissue at the bottom of the foot. If you are one of the many people who suffer from this then it is time you learn what can help ease your pain. Here are a few ways to get rid of Plantar Fasciitis:

Foot Stretching

Not just any foot stretching will do. You need to consult your Doctor and have him/her show you the kind of foot stretching that should be done. If you are unable to get to a Doctor, here are some of the foot stretching techniques you should perform.

1. Foot Lunges – Lunge with one foot and leave the other foot firmly on the ground

2. Stair or Platform Stretch – Position your feet so that your heels hang off the edge of the stair or platform. Allow your heels to drop so that you create a stretch. Hold for at least 30 seconds.

3. Tennis Ball Stretch – Simply roll a tennis ball around the bottom arch of your foot.

Adequate Arch Support Insoles

Go to your local shoe store or any drug store and look into getting some arch supports for your shoes. Having the right support for your arch is not only healthy, it will help prevent Plantar Fasciitis flare-ups altogether. Remember, a hard-soled shoe is a sure-fire way to intensify the pain and possibility of Plantar Fasciitis.

Decrease Your Workout/Training Regimen

This is something many people will automatically do just because the pain is too much to bare. However, you don’t have to entirely cutout your workout and training regimen. Many people want to be able to stay in shape and feel good about themselves. Simply pulling back the intensity a little, combined with proper stretching could do the trick.


Nobody wants to opt for this solution but sometimes it may come to this. If you have tried suggested remedies and nothing seems to work, you may want to consult your Doctor about the possibility of surgery to relieve the pain and pressure. While this should be a last resort, it is important to understand that surgery will more often than not fix the pain and discomfort.

Plantar Fasciitis does not have to ruin your life or take anything away from your daily routine. Taking proper steps and using caution during the healing process should lead you and your feet back to where they want to be.
