Cherry Cobbler Cake

1 box yellow duncan hines cake mix
***COBBLER***
1/4 cup water
1 cup sugar
1 stick butter
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon flavoring -- (vanilla)
1 can wilderness cherry pie filling
Use directions on box for cake.
Cobbler Mix: Boil all ingredients together until thick. Pour half of cobbler over cake batter. Use oblong pan. Bake as directions on box.
Icing: Other half of cobbler mixture.
