Rules Regarding Nail Polish

Q. Is it permissible for women to wear nail polish?

A. It is permissible to put on nail polish; however, it has to be concealed from non-mahram men. In addition, it is recommended for the wife to wear such adornments for her husband. 
Q. Is it permissible for women to pray with nail polish on?
A. There is no objection and the prayer is valid, but it has to be concealed from non-mahram men if they were available while she was praying. However if she is certain that the nail polish she is using, is Najis (Islamically unclean) then she must remove the nail polish and clean her hand.     
Q. Can a woman do wudhu or ghusl without removing her nail polish?
A. It is necessary to remove the nail polish, because it causes a barrier. 
Q. Can a woman do wudhu or ghusl with “Halal nail polish”?
A. It is claimed that Halal nail polish does not create a barrier and allows water and oxygen to reach the nail, therefor if she is certain that this claim is true then there is no objection in doing wudhu or ghusl with it on.
Q. Is it permissible for men to wear nail polish?
A. It is not permissible.
