What could be causing my baby's stuffy nose without any other symptoms?

A cold can sometimes cause a stuffy nose alone with no other symptoms. But it's more likely that your child has developed an allergy to something, such as pollen, dust, or even a pet, especially if her nose itches or if she seems to be having trouble breathing.
Another sign of allergies is what we call an "allergic shiner," a pale purplish ring on the skin under the lower eyelid of one or both eyes.
Another possibility worth checking: If the congestion is one-sided or has lasted for a long time, or your child seems to have bad breath, she could have something stuck up her nose, such as a little toy or a wad of toilet paper.
