Haysa Al-Tumreya - Dip for Dates

Cook Time: 5 minutes

Total Time: 10 minutes


  • 1 cup flour
  • 3/4 cups shortening
  • 2 cups dates, pitted


In a medium saucepan combine flour and shortening over medium heat.

Stir constantly, and be sure to scrape the sides and bottom of pan to prevent sticking.

  • Once mixture turns golden brown and bubbles, remove from heat and place in serving bowl.

    Serve immediately with pitted dates.

    Note: This date dip cannot be saved or prepared ahead of time. It should only be served hot.
