Date of birth

There are major differences concerning the birth date of Hazrat Ma’soomah (Peace Be Upon Her) and the main reason is due to the efforts made at that time for curbing the Shias and their attempts to hide their religious identity. Furthermore, the date of birth and passing away of Ahl-ul-Bayt ladies has not been reflected and this has become a general matter so much so that the date of martyrdom of Hazrat Fatima (Peace Be Upon Her), the burial site of Hazrat Zeinab (Peace Be Upon Her), the date of birth and passing away of Om-Kolsoum (Peace Be Upon Her), mothers of all Imams ranging from Imam Zein-ol-Abedin (Peace Be Upon Him) to Imam of the Time (May God Expedite His Reappearance) and daughters of Imams from Imam Hassan (Peace Be Upon Him) to Imam Askari (Peace Be Upon Him) have remained unknown. Despite this, there are two views presented by researchers concerning the birth date of Hazrat Ma’soomah (Peace Be Upon Her).

Some researchers are of the view that she was born in 183 hegira and others believe that she was born in 173 hegira. Most researchers consider the second view to be true having less ambiguity. Hazrat Najmah was the mother of Hazrat Reza and Hazrat Ma’soomah (Peace Be Upon Them) who had only two children. Imam Reza (Peace Be Upon Him) was born 25 years prior to the birth of Hazrat Ma’soomah (Peace Be Upon Her). Hence, Hazrat Najmah and Imam Reza were awaiting the birth of the noble lady during the said period of time.
