Dough:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp each salt, sugar, cinnamon
- 2/3 c shortening
- 2 Tbls chilled butter
- Mix together flour and seasonings, add shortening and butter, a little at a time, blend until coarse.
- Add 4 Tbls cold water, mix, roll into a ball and refrigerate.
- 6 cups apples (I use granny smith)
- 1/2 c brown sugar
- 1 Tbls cornstarch
- 1/2 tsp each cinnamon and nutmeg
- Preheat oven to 450°F.
- Peel, core and slice thinly the apples.
- Mix in the sugar, cornstarch and spices.
- Mix together 1/2 cup blackberries (if frozen thaw first) and about 1 tsp of cornstarch.
- Roll out dough, line pie tin, add apples, then sprinkle blackberries on top.
- Roll out rest of dough, place on top and cut 4 slits in top (Or however you want to do your pie crust).
- Bake at 450°F for 10 minutes.
- Turn down oven to 350°F and bake for another 30 minutes or until crust is lightly browned and pie is bubbling.
